Octo Octa: best known for the still devastating 'Let Me See You' cut for 100% Silk, the Brooklyn producer graces Running Back with four fine cuts. Creating the new, while respecting the old, the 'More Times EP' features heavy house (More Times), twitchy house (Fever Dream), dubby house (Take Me to The Dark) and breakbeat house with due respect to LTJ Bukem (Dresses). That's a lot of house for your money. Music for clubs and places that would like to be clubs. Watch out for Octo Octa on the back of the brilliant cover. More Times Good Times!
I read in an interview that the album was composed to provoke a sense of joy, and I feel that. It's startling how "fun" it feels; I think there's some magic in the arrangement and mixing, that elevates the sound design and melodies to great heights.. I can't work out how, which creates a glorious mystery on top of the great sounds. Octagonist
A lot of stuff on this marvellous compilation reminds me of some old bands I've gone too long without hearing. Any of you who can recall the likes of 2 Phat ****'s or Mory Kante shouldn't sit on this one. Ben Harris
